Senior Project Manager – Operational Process & Data Transformation
12-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | Birmingham (2–3 days per week onsite)
To £675 per day
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a 12-month transformation programme focused on documenting, strengthening and embedding Operational processes, implementing robust data controls, and reducing operational backlogs.
This is a high-impact role requiring strong leadership, governance expertise and the ability to work collaboratively across a complex operational environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of IT Projects, you will take full end-to-end ownership of a programme designed to:
• Map all Operational processes from a Customer, Data and Process perspective
• Implement effective data controls to identify anomalies before they impact downstream processes
• Create comprehensive training materials covering processes and data issue resolution
• Ensure all relevant staff are fully trained and compliant
• Partner with Operational teams to create and execute backlog reduction plans
You will lead a team of Process Documenters and Data Analysts, setting quality standards, maintaining governance, and ensuring delivery against agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary project team
• Identify and prioritise critical processes to ensure focus and momentum
• Deliver high-quality, multi-level process maps across Customer, Data and Process dimensions
• Ensure consistency and integration across process boundaries
• Define and embed appropriate data controls to detect and prevent errors
• Oversee the creation of clear, practical training materials
• Manage training rollout and implement controls to monitor process compliance
• Maintain strong project governance, reporting and communications
• Work collaboratively with Operational teams to secure resources while minimising disruption to BAU activities
• Engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels, including Directors and Sponsors
This role requires approximately 50% office presence in Birmingham to facilitate workshops, meetings and stakeholder engagement.
About You
• Senior Project Manager with 5+ years’ experience delivering complex transformation programmes
• Proven track record of leading process and data mapping initiatives
• Strong background in governance, quality management and control frameworks
• Experienced in working with Operational teams across multiple stakeholder levels
• Formally qualified in PRINCE2, PMBOK or equivalent (or demonstrable equivalent experience)
• Comfortable operating in complex environments with competing priorities
• Highly outcome-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to balance delivery focus with emotional intelligence and stakeholder sensitivity
• Strong advocate of a no-blame, people-centric culture
