Assistant IT manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT support analyst to join our client’s team in Tamworth in the role of assistant IT manager.  This is a diverse and challenging role involving day to day support, supplier/vendor management, infrastructure project work, and making recommendations for system and process improvements.

There will also be opportunities to advance further within the team management structure.

Technical skills

Experience of some or all of the below would be beneficial however is not essential, ultimately a demonstrated ability and desire to learn is the most important skill. 

  • Windows 10+ and Windows Server 2012 +
  • IIS
  • Citrix Xenapp
  • VMWare VSphere
  • Microsoft technologies including Azure, O365, Teams and Exchange
  • Dell networking
  • Mitel telephony
  • Sophos technology
  • Project management skills are not essential but a willingness to lean these skills is desirable

 

Your responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the team on a day to day basis ensuring support is provided promptly and efficiently, and ensuring IT projects are delivered in a timely manner
  • Provide telephone, at desk or remote support to the business
  • Initially follow existing IT processes, but also challenge and improve/rewrite these processes as you see fit
  • Investigate systems and processes around automation for the IT team
  • Utilise our cloud based training platform to learn new technologies or strengthen your existing knowledge
  • Propose, plan and deliver new IT infrastructure projects
  • Propose, plan and deliver system upgrades

About you

We are looking for an individual who is approachable and professional, good at prioritising requests based on business needs. You will need to have some experience of making recommendations for improvements and managing vendor relationships, including recommending appropriate IT vendors that suit the business needs.  You will be passionate about IT and keen to contribute ideas that will benefit the team and the business.  There is good career progression available here, you will gain mentoring and the chance to undertake training.  This is an office based role, although there may be some flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per month.  Tamworth based.  Benefits include 24 days holiday and pension, and a £4,000 per annum bonus (paid in monthly instalments.)  Salary to £36,000 per annum.  Interested?  Send your CV now!
